Safety harnesses ensure workers do not trip or fall from height when connected to immovable objects when worn correctly. These harnesses are used throughout multiple industries and are considered essential for worker safety.
Background Primer & Activities:
A background primer provides context and introduces the components of a safety harness. Participants learn how to inspect a harness before use, and the steps involved in properly donning based on OSHA standards. Then, participants engage in a sort-and-match activity to reinforce their understanding of harness components and each step in the process. Embedded learning outcomes based on Bloom’s revised taxonomy include remembering, understanding, and applying.
Participant Simulation:
Learn the correct way to don each component of a safety harness including belts with quick-connect buckles, padding, webbing, weight, and safety accessories. An interactive and manipulative simulation allows participants to explore and practice the eight steps of donning and fitting a safety harness in a safe, engaging format. The simulation provides instant feedback with either “correct” or “try again” responses to encourage participants to reconsider their choices and allows them to revisit any part of the simulation as needed.
Benefits & Key Features:
- Instant feedback responses.
- Self-paced and repeatable.
- Realistic tools, equipment and environment.
- Transferable skills can be directly applied in real-world scenarios.
